This Skill Set contributes to a range of qualifications in the MAR Maritime Training Package and on its own allows students to work onboard a commercial vessel.

COURSE DELIVERY
aXcelerate Student Learner Portal
QMTS Training QLD utilises the user-friendly digital learning management system aXcelerate to provide their students with everything they need to complete their certificate course.
From their aXcelerate profile, students are provided with a comprehensive, structured Learning Plan, containing a collection of structured modules based on the Units of Competency required for the skill set. Each module contains all the reading, resources and on-line assessments required to complete the module.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Students must be 16 years or older.
Basic English skills, reading and writing.
As a safety consideration, QMTS recommends all students are able to confidently swim (any stroke) a minimum of 50 metres fully clothed.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Language, Literacy, and Numeracy
It is a requirement of this course that all enrolling students undertake a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment.
Technology
As the delivery of the course relies on access to the aXcelerate Student Learner Portal, students must have access to their own computer, laptop or iPad
Students will require basic computer skills to complete the course without disadvantage. This includes how to access the internet, download documents, save files to a hard drive and upload files into the Student Learner Portal. On enrolment, all students receive a Student Learner Portal Learner Guide.
ENROLMENT
When enrolling into a QMTS Training course it is a requirement that all enrolment documentation is received before enrolment confirmation can occur. The required documents and information are listed below:

Please also note that Students will be required to provide QMTS Training with their Unique Student Identifier (USI) before enrolment can be completed.
COURSE ASSESSMENTS
A combination of Practical and Theory assessments will be undertaken. The assessments may consist of multiple choice and short answer.
All students will access all on-line assessments via their aXcelerate Student Learner Portal.
Practical Assessment
Students will be required to attend our Manly, Brisbane campus to complete their 1 day practical assessment.
This includes fire fighting, deploying flares and water drills.
We also provide higher qualifications for a Coxswain Grade 1,  Master up to 24m, Master up to 45m, Master up to 45m Upgrade, Marine Engine Driver Grade 2  and Marine Engine Driver Grade 3.
